Music Video Analysis

The artist of 'take me home' is Jess Glynne
Steve Mac produced the song
The record label behind the song is Atlantic.
The target audience for this song and video is aimed at people 16-25 because it has a sense of nudity in it even though there is nothing graphic being shown, also because this song was written for awareness for children in need so it is sort of persuading people to donate money to them, also it is a modern song meaning that a lot of younger people will take to it because Jess Glynne is very popular and well liked. The story behind the video, is having someone taking care of you when you are most vulnerable

The camera work in the video, is quite quick when changing sets, they do a quick cut for the new set they get to, this is effective because it allows the audience to realise that there is quite a strong and dramatic meaning behind this. The only edits, that are being used, is a cut this is used frequently in this video. The camera is doing a mid close up to close up during the video, he mostly show her face and her shoulders. In this video, there are no set filters throughout the video.

Jess Glynne isn't wearing a costume in the video, she is naked. The lighting of the video, is quite dull and gets quite dark throughout the video, this shows that the video is emotional because they are sad colours which are used, it allows the audience to notice, that the song and video is meant to make people ask questions and to make people realise that it is sensitive. In the video, there are no main props used, there is a house which they are in and the prop that is mostly seen, is a sofa, this is only making an appearance a few times. Jess Glynne has no drastic make up on, she has faint and natural make up on to even out her skin, this allows you to realise that the video is neutral and talking about the feelings, in this video, she is acting sad and emotional, I know this because you can see it in her facial expressions and her body language.
This video is successful, because it was made for a charity, meaning that a lot of people appealed to it, it was also made by an artist who is very successful and has a lot of fan which allowed the video and the song to become more popular.

The artist of 'let it go', is James Bay.
The producer of the song, is Jacquire King.
The record label behind it is Republic
The target audience for this music video, in my opinion is girls between 15-25, think this because James himself is relatively young and can relate to the younger minds more in this day and age and with the feeling that they have for maybe other people or the hurt they've been through. I think this is an appropriate age group, because it allows the audience to get gripped to the lyrics and think about what they actually mean.
The story behind the is about a relationship that is not what it used to be, he suggest that they are trying to hold on in a love that they don't need. That it's time to let go of each other so they can be what they really are, because they are pretending to be something they are not. He asks why they are still trying if their love is gone and all they do is fight "slamming doors at you". He says that they can try to love each other again but it wouldn't happen because deep down they know that it'll never work and they'll never love each other like they did.
The video, uses a lot of slow movement, like with moving round corners and tilting the camera, in the video, there are a few transitions where it fades in to black and then fades back out in to the video its self which is where it starts on a new verse. In this video, there is no drastic filters or special effects put on it, it is all kept quite natural as if someone is telling a story.
The costumes in the video, are casual, they are just wearing causal everyday clothes, this allows the video to be as natural as realistic as possible. The acting in this video, is quite sensitive, I know this because of the facial expressions and the body language they have, the lyrics also help identify that. The setting throughout the video, is in an old house which I assume he shared with his ex partner, this setting, is consistently dark, throughout this video, the lightning doesn't change in a way that we will completely notice as a result of the lighting being dark, it allows the audience to realise that song is emotional and talking about a heartbreak. The props that are used in this video, are everyday objects, a house, car etc, nearer to the end of the video, there is a fire in the house that he set, this allows the audience to realise that he is burning all the old memories and starting a fresh
I think this song is successful, because it allows the audience relate to the lyrics if they've had a heartbreak because they've fallen out of love, it is also because James Bay is a very well liked and popular person, people relate his voice to Ed Sheeran who is also well like.

The song 'uncover', is by Zara Larsson.
The producer of the song, is Robert Habolin.
The label behind the song, is Epic Records.

I think the audience for this song is people in their early 20's because its about a relationship that no one knows about meaning that people have maybe experience something, like this before and have been through a tough relationship that had to be kept quite. I also think this because it is a way for people to relate to the emotions in different ways, but can partly relate to some of the lyrics.

The story behind the lyrics, is about people who love you but they can't show it, it is about people who have to keep it quiet and aren't allowed to be together yet still are because of the feelings they have for one another.

The video uses mostly mid close ups, this is because it allows the audience to then see the facial expressions and the emotions the lyrics are presenting. The video, has no filters put on and no drastic transitions, it is kept quite natural, this gives the impression that the video is made from the perspective of her telling the story trying to involve the audience and not just singing the lyrics.

The costumes in this video again are the same as the previous video and are kept quite casual and like everyday clothes, for the both sides of people in the video,. The lighting of the video, is natural but added with a little lighter contrast, this allows the video, to be mixed emotions because the video itself is light which allows the audience to realise the song is relatively happy yet sad and we get that from the expressions and the lyrics of the song. In this video, Zara, isn't doing any obvious acting, she is keeping it quite natural and casual, as if it was everyday things, which at the end of the day it is, she is walking down a road, yet also interacting with the person who she is not meant to be with. In this video, there is various settings, there is a road, an arcade, a pub, and an outdoors setting, which is more used with the camera and not as an actual setting, we see it more during the camera moving however there is an outdoor scene which takes place in a park, at this stage, Zara is looking upset about having to keep her relationship quiet.

I think this video is successful because it a song that a few people can relate to because of the situation being explained, also Zara Larsson is a well liked person, who is now becoming more popular which means that the audience is now going to be looking more in to her older songs in order to get more of an understanding of her.

Music Video Planning

For my music video, I am going to do, is using combination format (performance and narrative) this is because it allows the audience to get gripped in to it. It does this because where it tells a story; it allows the audience to think about the narrative and to ask questions about what is going on.  The performance is also going to grip the audience because for example, if it is an emotional video that is quite sad and touching, the video will be emotional and will touch people, the performance will also give people the idea of what the narrative is; the performance allows the audience to interpret the narrative. Using the combination format will also engaged the audience and encourage them to go to gigs and start listening to the music all the time, it allows the audience to get an attachment to the band and the style of music they do, it allows the audience to always be gripped and thinking about what is going on and what is behind the video.
My music video will be something that is quite emotional that will touch people this is because while making the video we’ll be able to relate the emotions and really get in to it which will help because it will make it more believable and effective. There will be a family in a house, that are going through a rough time, and during the video, nothing is progressing, everything gets worse, during the video there will be a male and female (parents) shouting but while this is happening, we won’t be able to hear them it’ll just be in the background, we will only be able to hear the lyrics of the song. There will also be 2 kids who are being effected by the shouting of the parents, the youngest one is crying and the elder one is trying to sooth her and stay as calm as she can but as she does this, tears are rolling down her face.  At the end of the video, the family have been split up along with the kids, one with each parent. I think that I will keep the video quite dark and dull, like a green/brown colour this is because it allows you to notice that it is emotional and not a happy or easy time.
